Please Don't Trip on the Acid
How about some bookmark love? ::
Acid Stained Concrete Floors are the most exciting trend that I have seen. This could really threaten the dominance of travertine as the floor covering of choice.

The process apparently involves the use of Hydrochloric Acid to open up the surface of the concrete to make it somewhat porous. Stains and colors are then poured into etched areas to fill color into the patterns. After a period of setting the stain, the surface is then buffed to make it smooth again. It looks as if the patterns can get pretty intricate, or likewise can stay simply geometric.

I was at the tile & stone powerhouse Walker Zanger yesterday shopping with a friend for granite countertops and we saw these amazing poured-concrete slabs that are being sold for kitchens & baths.
Concrete countertops in kitchens isn't really new, but pre-fabbed gorgeous slabs is something nice... I'd say check out www.walkerzanger.com, but their catalog doesn't seem to have 'em in there yet...
Anyway, good post. I agree. Poured concrete floors properly finished are going to be yet another killer way to finish your floors.

Hi Jesse,
I have seen a push away from Granite as a countertop finish. It still looks nice, but there are people who want to display their hip personality in the choices of unconventional materials that they choose now. I have seen more kitchen counters with soapstone and a move toward granite flooring, which I really like.
I think that the pre-fab concrete likely would be a fantastic idea for more people wanting to move in a different direction than "granite everything".
